question about glass hole bits

The bit I have has a round stem with a hole in it. It won't fit my drill as is. Is there an adapter or something that I need?

is the stem of the bit to short to fit in the chuck? all you should have to do is stick it in and close the chuck.

Where did you get the glass bit? Is it possible it could be a 1/2" stem/base on the glass bit and your drill has a 3/8" chuck as most standard drills.....

Here's a pic.

When I was waiting for the store manager at Menards (like HD and Lowes) I could fit a 3/16 drill bit threw it, but loosely. A 1/4 bit wouldn't fit threw the hole. The hole is not threaded or shaped. It's perfectly round and there's no holes/screw to keep it tight if I could finding something to fit threw the hole in the stem.

I ordered it from Glass Holes.com if that helps any.

You need a large capacity drill. I am going to guess you have a 1/4 or 3/8 inch drill, while that steam is closer to 1/2 inch. So beg/borrow/steal/buy/rent a 1/2 inch drill and you will be good to go.

The steam will go into the drill just like a normal bit, not something in the hole and then into the drill.

judging by his finger tip against the shaft it looks like a 3/8" one. What kind of drill are you trying to put this in. It also looks like it may have gotten oblonged which could be the problem also unless its just the picture. Is the inner hole perfectly round but the outer part not?

What I meant by being round was that I thought would would be a hexagon so the drill bit could grab a hold of it better than it being round.
