Question about Ich

I got a new six-line wrasse today. He looked great at the store. He was active, eating, and I didn't see any whote spots on him.

After about a hour drive home and aclcimating him to my tank, I noticed some white spots. Although, they don't look like the typical Ich salt spots, they are more circular and are a little raised (I think).

Is this going to go away once the fish is no longer stressed? I am not sure if it is Ich because I have never personally seen it before.

The fish is doing great, swimming and not showing any signs of Ich like heavy breathing, scratching, etc. Should I just watch him for a day or two and see if it goes away and treat if it doesn't? I only have one other fish in there that I got today and he doesn't show any signs.

Thanks,

Mike

HI Mike,

well its hard to say. There are lots of things (parasites) that fish can have. Many times, ich is a common one.

What is the other fish?

You can watch them but consider setting up a small QT becuase if it is Ich it is not going to just go away. You should treat it and rid you main of it..

Small QT for small fish like your six line (10g) can be picked up at a Wal-mart for 10 bucks.

If you google ich and look at images you can compare it.

There is a sticky at the top of the page with info treating it if your fish has it.

Personally, I would choose hypo.

best,

HB
