Question about my new lionfish

I just picked up a dwarf lionfish Saturday from my LFS. This is my first time with a darft, but have had the volitan before. I had just set up my 120 Folwr and the lionfish and a red headed jaw fish are the first two fish to go into the tank. My question is, with the dwarf lions do they perch most of the time? I never really see him out swimming, other then right after i put him in the tank. I have had the lights off for most of the time, because the jaw fish still hasn't build a home yet and im trying to keep the stress down for him. Or is it too soon for him to feel comfortable to swim in the open when i do have the lights on, which is only about 3 hours a day.

It takes them time to adjust -- they will swim around. I would be worried that the jawfish will get eaten though ... what are the comparative sizes?

Imo they will perch until the realize that people feed them. Then they will come out and swim. My 2 swim all the time.

They usually perch and hang out until they see you cOme near the tank, then they swim constantly (once they realize you feed them that is)

Mine dwarf was shy for a few days. still perches about 50% of the time, but if i come near the tank he usually starts swimming. also makes a beeline for the feeder stick!
