Question about pairing???

Trying again
I just added my second clown yesturday, and I read the clownfish & anemone FAQ and i'm confused. I read that you can tell if you have two females if they both attack and latch on with there mouth, when I read this my draw drop. Thats EXACTLY what these two did when i FIRST added them. They stopped fighting for the most part after 15mins. Today they haven't fought at all but they aren't being buddy buddy either. Whenever the larger one gets really close to the little one, the little one will turn to its side and start twitching. I just would like to know if you people think there is a chance for them to pair up? I'd say the smaller one is about 1 1/2" (maybe a little smaller) and the other is about 2". But the larger one looks A LOT bigger in terms of thickness and just general girth compared to the other. Also, I've been trying to find out what "pairing" behavior consists of but I've been unsuccesful in finding anything. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
-Brian

turning to the side and twitching is typical submissive behaviour. If the larger clown is not attacking the smaller it sounds like your fish may form a pair. BTW, what type of clowns are they?

Well, It seems like the larger one wants to be paired with the smaller one, she pretty much stays by the smaller one all the time w/o being aggressive. The smaller one will let the bigger one be near him most of the time. Then sometimes the larger one will swim fast towards the smaller one and the smaller one will just start twitching. So as of right now i'd say there is a good chance of them pairing. They are only in a 12g together so I think if there were going to be problems it would be non stop fighting right???

Definately the twitching is a good sign, aka "the submissive shimmy".. Thats usually the beginning of a pair forming (though it isn't a guarantee).. As long as they are not non-stop fighting hard, give it time and I think you will have a pair.
