i bought a red coris sunday late afternoon. its an adult not a juvenile. i did the acclimation and then set him loose. its a 75 gallon tank with nothing in it that would be threatening to him. the deal is i have not seen him since and it is tues morning? do i need to start moving things around to find a corpse?

Hes hiding. Just let him be. I have a Coris wrasse also and he hid for almost a week before he came out. But when he did come out you should have seen his personality come out. Just keep feeding your tank like you normally would and dont move your rock cause he could be under the sand. Mine hides there at night. Also I found out that they will eat algae so if you dont see him at feeding time thats what he might be doing. Also just for fyi they are pigs and when he gets use to the new surounding he will start eating like one. If you dont see him in a couple more days check your water parameters if you see ammonia then go lookin for him. Good luck.

thanks. i did notice when i got home monday afternoon that two rock faces where broken off and appeared to have been moved down the bed of the tank. i didnt know if this was the work of the wrasse or not. only other big fish i have is a fox face rabbit fish who is about 6-7 inches in length

If you've got a clean up crew, I imagine you'll not find a body even if the fish dies. It's probably hiding, though, and I wouldnt worry about it too much.
