question about stars and stripes puffer....

to help answer my question I will compare with a porky puffer.

I used to have a porky and he was very food aggressive. I don't know if they are all like that or just the one I had. (I assume all are the same)

I was just wondering if the stars and stripes puffer is the same way?

also, can a stars and stripes be kept in a 190g full hex?

We've been tanking Stars and Stripes for many years and yes, they are aggressive. It has been our experience that all Arothrons cannot be grouped together as aggressive feeders. We've noticed that dogfaced puffers are quite a bit more tranquil than S&S. I suppose they all can go nuts if they are hungry enough but if you kept them well fed it shouldn't be a problem. We've never seen a S&S eat another fish in our tanks.

I would imagine the 190 gallon full hex tank would be ok as long as you put in some heavy filtration. They are quite messy eaters. Some smaller "cleanup fish" would be a good idea too to keep the uneaten food bio-load down. A bio-denitrator would be a good idea since nitrates can get high from them.
