Question about sump placement

I am setting up my rectangle 55 gallon tank. I am setting it in a corner so I can get behind it to work in the sump. The sump is a 29 gallon, so it makes for a tight fit under a 55 gallon stand. The way I have the sump right now is as follows: I have the tank turned sideways with about half the tank in the stand and half out. This makes for very easy access for me, but I didn't know if it mattered that the part of the stand that the tank comes out of is a little less 1/4 in. tall, and part of the tank is on the stand and the other is on the carpet.

I know this is somewhat confusing, but if someone can understand what I mean, please offer some advice. I will try to post a picture shortly.

I'd try getting some pieces of plywood to keep the tank level. 29g is big enough where I'd worry about stressing the seams of the tank which can lead to leaks. Put the tank on a piece of 3/4" plywood and prop up the end on the carpet with something suitable so the sump is level.
