I was wondering... if i bought the nano remora, could i remove the HOB filter i am currently using? Please help me with the advantages and/or disadvantages i would have.... thanks in advance

That's all I'm running on my 10gal. Granted I am only in the cycle stage (tank was set up last weekend). If you have the prefilter you can always put carbon in there.

I'm not sure how my set-up will turn out. I figure I will experiment w/ this and see what happens. But, so far, everythings going great. Oh, yea, you can also use the return chamber of the Remora to put a heater in. I have an Ebo-Jager 150w in mine (keeps equipment out of the display) and it keeps the water at a constant 78-80*.

BTW, the HOB filter is 350 gph..... if i do remove the filter and just go with the skimmer, should i go with the 1200 model over the 900? and do you know if you can put a polyfilter in the place of a carbon bag?

Yes, the prefilter is the surface skimmer/bubble box (I shouldn't have called it a prefilter). If you have sand in the tank I wouldn't go w/ the MJ 1200 or 900. I have 2 MJ 400 (one at each end of the tank) and they move my sand around some. My MJ 400's are on a Wavemaster so they are very rarely on at the same time. I would think that a 1200 or 900 would create a sandstorm. If the polyfilter will fit in the compartment then I don't see why not. HTH

Oh, ok. I have the Remora and it comes w/ the 1200. I'm not familiar w/ the nano so I really can't say. I would just keep whatever they come w/ on there (unless you have a 1200 laying around and want to experiment). Sorry, for the confusion.
