I want to know if the owner of acrylic aquarium are satisfied?

If the purchase of an aquarium would be a repeat, you still buy acrylic? What fault did you find your acrylic aquarium?

I look for an aquarium 220g starphire or acrylic and I am not decided.

I need help to make my decision.

thank

This will be interesting to me also, as I just got my new acrylic tank set up 4 days ago. I am interested to hear people opinions.

Thanks

I am happy with acrylic and would rebuy. I can always get the scratches out whereas not so with glass. And of course there are other pros for me as well.

How do you remove the scratch's, drain the display & sand ?

thank you for your help! I am still very undecided on choice of my aquarium. This is not as easy choice

I would also buy acrylic again. You can always remove the scratches. And other pros included as well. I'm pleased with mine.

I have Clear for Life and would buy acrylic again, don't use the Kent plastic scraper on the bottom front if you have sand, sweep the sand away with hand and apply a soft sponge....the one with the white net around it.

A big factor is the size of the tank in question... glass is alot heavier than acrylic; with a larger tank it can mean the difference between being able to move it yourself or needing help.

In general, glass is less expensive and more resistant to scratching, but alot easier to crack / break / leak and heavier -

Acrylic looks better as long as you don't scratch it up, and is lighter and more durable as far as leakage and breakage go

Honestly, though, I would say go glass under 150g as the benefits outweigh the negatives; above 150g it's acrylic all the way for safety and mobility

I'd go starphire if I had it to do again.

The convience of adding holes anywhere i wanted was great, but now that the tank is setup . . . scratches aren't so clear when they've been removed. Glass would be better IMO.

I will never go back to glass EVER again. IMO, the disadvantages of glass far outweigh its benefits. My next tank and any future tanks will always be acrylic.

Acrylic tanks:
-cannot be shattered by an angry girlfriend/wife during a fight
-SUPER CLEAR - has no green tinge
-good insulator
-super light
-scratches are easy to buff
-very moddable and fixable

 Most of us try to avoid busted windshields and Reef tanks.
-Super clear is true until you scratch the crap out of it and it turns yellow.
-Good insulator has no merit. Thats a mith
-It's lighter then glass but not much lighter when it's full of water.
-light scratches on the outside are ez to buff. Deep scratches are impossible. And everytime some lil kid sees your magnet he scratches your tank with it.
-What do you need to mod on a 150 gallon rr tank, except when you want to turn it into a sump because it's all scratched up:)
-Glass doesn't bow in the middle and is less likely to leak at the seams.
-If glass leaks at the seams it is easily repairable with Silicone.
-Your heater won't melt a whole in a glass tank.
-Acrylic tanks can also be busted with a baseball bat, don't kid yourself.

Almost as much debate as sand against bare bottom...

For me acrylic all the way, the benefits far out weigh the minor possibly of scratching. My current tank has been set up for over 2years. I have no scratches at all, you just need to be careful how you clean, and what you use. Having a BB helps, with no chance of sand getting to the acrylic surface.

Search the forums about leaks, breakage and disasters. You will always find a glass tank, and rarely acrylic.....

Happy Reefing

wow i suppose i never say there and thought about. currently i have a clarity plus acrylic 90. looking to upgrade to a 220 glass. my kids LOVE the magnet scraper and now my clarity plus is anything but clear. i however never thought about bb before. i like wrasses. so i guess i am 50/50. sorry not any help.
