question for owners of pink birds nest and/or stylophora

Hello, I have two questions. I have a pink birds nest for 2 weeks and it seems to be doing well, the pink is more intense than when I first put it in. I have read that if algae or detrius get stuck on the branch's it could be the begining of the end for this type of coral. Do I really need to manually clean it? that thing is like velcro, every tiny piece of what ever tends to get stuck to it.

Stylophora, I added a small pink frag also a few weeks ago and its pretty much unchanged since I added it. The polyps are out in the day, but not fully open, at night they are fully open, the coral looks fluffy at night. Is this normal for stylophora?

No, you do not need to clean your coral manually, just increase your flow!

If the coral is alive and well, algae won't take it over.

The stylo should have it's polyps fully extended during the day as well. I am not sure why it is not opening up. What are your parameters?

60 gallon cube-S.G 1.026, PH 8.2, temp. 79.5 F, Ca 450ppm, Alk 9 DKH, Mg 1350ppm, potassium 390 ppm, phos, nitrates bla, bla...0 ppm. 2-part +dosers.
If it is supposed to be fully open all the time then I suspect it needs to change place in my tank. My flow is 2 MP-10's plus a hydor plus the return....its about as good as it gets, the light is a Radion. I find the light to be the hardest thing to work with. I had an easyer time placing corals with my 250w Radium.
PS, the stylo was fragged the day before I took it home...so maybe too much, too fast?

A few weeks ago? It should have adapted by now. Are there any pests on it or anything nipping at it?

Try dipping it in some Coral Rx.
