Question: House addition, planning big tank .. remote fish room

Hello! My wife and are are planning an addition on our house in the near future and meeting with various firms to help us plan what we can do, etc. Currently I have a fish room in my garage (finished/climate controlled) with a big frag tank and plumbed into my office above it with a tank.

I would like to put a tank in the new room where the addition will be on the primary house. But, the garage/office is a seperate building about 50 feet away.

Has anyone ever plumbed a return and overflow into a fish room, in a building not attached to the house, by burying the lines? I live in MD, so we get snow, etc., it would have to go below the freezing mark, etc., but curious if anyone has done this, considered it?

I really don't want the fish room in the main house, if possible.

Look at my build thread in my signature. My fish room is about 70 feet away. We ran 5 1.5 inch PEX pipes under the slab. 3 drains and 2 returns.

We have 2 230 watt Royal Exclusive return pumps that I run at about 50%.

It works just fine. happy to help you plan this as I learned a ton from this endeavor.

Certainly would love to chat .. our's would actually leave the house and go outside, 50 feet, into the other building. So, no slab, just buried deep enough like a sewer pipe I imagine. Looking at your thread now.
