Question on 40 gallon breeder

Can I remove the bottom plastic molding without affecting the tank's structural integrity? Reason is I have exactly 36" to fit it in and the tank with molding is approximately 36 1/4". Thanks.

Last time I tried this I found that the glass was not even from led to right so it would joy have been sitting flat. You may get lucky and it may be good in your case.

I've found this as the case on some old tanks I've taken apart. You could get lucky, but you never know.
