question on overflow plumbing

I was sitting here and figured I would get my overflow pipes and returns put into place The pipes came used so most of the stuff is prefited only thing is on the bulkheads the stand pipe and return pipe inside the overflow must have a screw in connnection vs the straight pipe going into the bulkhead right? dumb question I know but hope I made sense

If the bulkhead is threaded inside I use a threaded to slip adapter on the standpipe, that way I can adjust the height to control flow and sound. Once I find a good height and noise level I leave it be. The return can be done the same way, but I glue it after I fit it to keep it from coming apart.
Hope this helps.

Yeah makes me think I need to buy new bulkheads and make new standpipes as these look like they have been sawed off that helps Thanks Mobikob
