Question on PVC bottom/ glass tanks.

I have seen several tanks now with PVC bottoms. I thought there there is an inherent problem with getting glass to glue to plastic? So much so that companies have begun putting glass inside of the acrylic overflows on glass tanks in order to prevent the leaks that were occurring between the acrylic overflow and glass tank.

I know that it is commonly known that getting glass to glue to acrylic is a problem. Is there something different with PVC that I am unaware of because i like the idea of being able to machine out from the PVC bottom.

Thanks!

I believe they are using a UV curing adhesives that bond equally well to PVC and glass. I too am curious, and would definately be interested in these tanks. I would really like to hear from someone that has had one for long term. i.e. greater than a year or two, and see if they hold up.

Are you talking about starboard barebottom tanks? They have a glass bottom, but have a sheet of PVC cuttingboard laying on top, with the rocks holding it down.

Yes, it's an actual PVC bottom that seems to have a groove cut into it. Anyone have long term experience with this?
