perculaclown,
Thank you for your great inquiry into our Diver’s Den photographing methods.
Our livestock are photographed in a custom fabricated aquarium, specifically designed for the purpose of taking pictures of our beautiful Divers Den specimens. The fish are individually transferred into this tank with great care, one at a time, using specimen containers. They are gently placed into the photo tank for the photo shoot and are then carefully transferred back into their own original holding tank. Nets are not used during this procedure in order to avoid any loss of their precious slime coat and to avoid any undue stress to each fish.
Our photo aquarium and our holding tanks are all plumbed into our main system in order to share the same water, again reducing any stress during the photo shoots. Our main fish system is over 3000 gallons and utilizes a giant fluidized sand bed, 12’ tall by 24†in diameter foam fractionator (skimmer), 1000mg ozone generator, 960 watts of UV sterilization, and three dedicated pumps to facilitate the operation of the system.
We hope this information explains our photography process and why the background appearance is the same in each photo.
