Questions about 6-line wrasse

I got a new six-line wrasse, and I am loving him... love the way he darts about the rocks.

I have a few questions:

1. can i get another one in a 125 gallon tank? will they get along?
2. do they eat clams? are my dreams of clam-raising over?

thanks for any info,
nabeel

I agree with mixed reefer.

Not only will a 6 line not eat clams, it is my understanding that they do eat some of the snails that are parasites on clams, so keeping a 6 line can actually benefit clams.

That's one of the reasons that I added a 6-line to my display tank. Didn't do much good since he swam down the overflow to the sump where he now lives. I haven't been able to catch him for months.

Enjoy!

not only shouldnt you keep another six line wrasse with the one you have, be careful adding any other wrasse. i found out the hard way when adding a carpenters fairy wrasse... i had no idea just how aggressive six line wrasses were!

also, not only are the six lines great at eating parasitic snails on clams, but mine single handedly eradicated flatworms from my tank. a great reef fish, but don't let it's small size fool you, they can be nasty little suckers towards other wrasses.

Yes, great at eliminating nuisances and also great at eliminating other fairy or flasher wrasses. They can be MEAN.

I've had a pair of six line wrasses for two years. Yes they are super aggressive and will kill any other wrasse in your tank. So if you don't plan on adding other wrasse...go for it

Maybe your 6-line likes it down there!

I added a 6-line to a tank with a bristle tooth tang. For a few days, I thought the Tang was going to kill the 6-line. Then one day I watched the tang run the wrasse into the rock work. The tang went in after him. A moment later, the tang came busting out of the rock in a BIG hurry. The wrasse came wondering out a few seconds later.

I'd sure like to know what transpired in the rock work, but what ever the wrasse did to that tang, they have been best buddies ever since!:D

most are making 6-lines out to be as bad as damsels or worse...I havent heard this before, and Im concerned because I recently set up a reef with a few wrasses and a firefish. To be specific, I have an orangeback fairy wrasse, and an adorned wrasse in addition to the 6-line and firefish. I have seen no signs of fighting yet (this is a 30gal cube tank) Should I remove someone???
