Questions about Ich treatment

I purchased a multicolor angelfish, a blue head wrasse, a Solon fairy wrasse, and a blue throat trigger last week. I put them in the QT tank and in two days, the trigger was covered in Ich. I decided to go with hypo salinity treatment because of the wrasse needing sand and the angel being sensitive to copper. The sg is now at 1009.

I stopped in at the fish store and they told me that hypo itself can kill the fish. Is this true? I know tank transfer is the preferred treatment, but what about the wrasse that need sand?

I have extra tanks, so I can split the fish up and treat them differently. I would appreciate any advice on this, since I haven't dealt with Ich in many years. Thanks!

For wrasses, you can put a small amount of sand in a glass pyrex bowl. The amount of copper that will absorb is minimal or just throw out the sand after each TT. I don't believe hypo itself will kill your fish (so long as you don't drop below 1.009), but many have found it difficult to apply successfully and hypo resistant strains of Ich are known to exist.
