Questions about my tank upgrade...

Well I just upgraded my 29 gallon with hang on back emporer 400 that I have had for about a year and half to a 62 gallon with overflow. This is my first attempt at an overflow aquarium and I wanted to set up a good system however I am more of a plug and watch person than really into lots of the technical stuff. My 29 has been great as I stay on the lower end of bio load with only a coral beauty and a true percula. All of my corals have been growing like crazy and I have gotten rid of 2 tree corals as they over grew the tank. I also have a large Green Star Polyp which tends to be my favorite when it is fully extended and waving back and forth like grass. I put the live sand and water in the new tank a a week and a half ago and added 50 pds of live rock this past friday as well as my other 40 lbs of live rock from 29gallon tank. Now I am wondering if that was a good idea as all of my corals are just sitting on the sand in the 29 and the tank looks so barron, plus the star polyps are not really expanding now even though water parameters appear the same. My questions are should I add any of the old sand to the new sand in the new tank? Should my protein skimmer run while the tank is cycling and what about my lights? I have the Aqua C urchin skimmer in a 20 gallon sump as well as the Coralife HQI for the tank with the 150W metal halide. Since I added so much rock that was already cured with the rock that was uncured what should I expect would be a cycling time on this tank. I am not neccessarily looking to add new livestock but would like to get everything over into the new tank? Thanks in advance for any help.
