Questions about Starboard BB tanks

Hi All, I have a 29 gallon tank dedicated to soft corals.
the tank currently sits in the second floor, but the floor is on the verge or collapse underneath the tank. The tank will be oved into the basement as soon as possible for us to clear out a space for it.

Anyway- I Hate moving tanks, and one of the worsts parts IMO is dealing with all the cloudyness of replacing the sands. I have SSB now that is old and mucky. So- Instead of having to buy more sand and washing it, and dealing with its cloudyness, I think it may be a good Idea to get starboard to cover the bottom. IMO a nice, clean, sterile, ehite look.

Having said that, Where do I buy Starbard, and is there anything else I have to keep in mind wile using it besides regular siphoning of poo of of it during water changes?

It wont hurt my tank or affect nirate conversion due to the fact that the SSB I have now is only 1/4 inch deep and covers only the front, so there will be little or no difference in denitrification.

Increase your water flow to keep poo from settling and the skimmer can get it.

As stated, for BB to work and be of any use, you need to keep detritus suspended in the water so that your protein skimming can remove it.

If you dont do this, it will mean a lot more work for you. My tank was a plague to me until I was able to fullfil this flow requirement. Now it's a joy.

Doing this with softy tanks poses a challenge because you need strong flow on the bottom, but medium flow where the corals are. You'll have to be very effective in aiming.
