I have not dealt with them and I am not sure what to look for when buying. I am looking at a wide angle and a macro. I am would like something to add onto my 18-50 & 18-80 lens for indoor shots before I can get my high end Macro lens. Thanks for the insight, any good dealers besides B&H? Thanks Tim

Not sure if you're aware of it but fisheye and wide angle are kinda sorta two different animals. A fisheye lens is very wide by nature, but it will give you a somewhat distorted perspective in that straight horizontal and vertical lines will curve significantly toward the edges of the frame. It can be a cool effect too but a regular wide angle lens is designed so that those curves are at an absolute minimum. The wider you go the harder it is to get perfectly straight horizons. What that means is the cheaper the lens the more distortion you'll see. Here's a little info on barrel and pin cushion distortion.

:) First, what camera do you have? (more importantly, what brand? Canon or Nikon or something else? I don't recognize the focal lengths you posted so I'm guessing Nikon) Also what are you specifically looking for - just to clear up from your post. Are you looking for an UWA (ultra wide angle) or a fish eye lens? They're dramatically different types of lenses that create VERY different results.

As for the macro, a very simple and probably one of the cheapest ways to dip your toes into macro would be to pick up a set of extension tubes, kenko tubes are a great set of 3rd party tubes.

:) I'm sure there are lots of people here that each have their preferred stores. Besides B&H there is also Beach Camera, Adorama, and Canoga Camera. As well if you can find a lens on Amazon that is SOLD by Amazon.com I've also heard of good service.

I have a Canon Rebel 6.3 MP.

Here are the lens I found on ebay that got me thinking about this.

My 18-80 Lens came off of a film camera and I meant to say 18-55 (package lens).

I also have a promaster 70-300mm zoom lens with a macro feature.

So I would like to find something that is a little easier to get decent macro shots. Thanks for the help. Tim

I have the Canon EF-S 10-22mm for my Digital Rebel. IMO this lens is the best of both world as far as wide angle and fisheye. At 10mm you get the distorted fisheye look, but as you zoom out it becomes more of your traditional wide angle lens. It's what's considered an ultra wide angle lens.

As fas as macro goes a really good lens for a Digital Rebel would the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens. I do not have this lens, but it is next on the list. Another option would be the Sigma MACRO 150mm F2.8, but this lens is going to be bigger and heavier. You may not find it as versatile as the Canon for a first macro lens.

If you are buying lenses online B&H has one of the best reputations. That is where I get my lenses from.
