did you measure your "ss" strain? if they are below 200 micron they are likely B. rotundiformis. these guys prefer the higher temps 28-35 C. in general rotifers prefer lower strength seawater of 10-20. I know these things reproduce like gang busters under ideal conditions but you must treat them as highly sensitive animals. always use gradual methods when acclimating to different temp, salinity, density, etc.
they will do just fine on nanno. take care when feeding them, not too much not too little, very important when trying to keep them happy. a constant drip works well but I find that feeding in intervals is better, maybe once every 1-2 hours. A general rule for high density feeding (>1000 individuals/ml) is 1 ml paste/1 million rotifers.
