Quick acan colour question

Just quickly, if acans looked red before but have now turned orange, and they were red when they were added to this tank. Is this down to too much or not enough light? I know they can change quite a lot due to lighting conditions as well as bands forming (again is this due to too much or not enough, did read somewhere but can't remember which way round it is).

TIA

i know acans tend to morph to just different lighting conditions then the tank that they came from, so this could be your situation, in which case you are ok... Also, are you feeding it? If not, then spot feed chopped shrimp or mysis/other meety foords and the color may come back!. Corals in too much light tend to not open up, so if you see feeding tenticles and he is very puffy, then its not too much light. They also tend to bleach (lighten) when lighting isnt correct, so red to orange sounds like its getting lighter in color in a way, so maybe a new place in the tank will help? About how far is it from the lights and what lighting do you have?

I have two of the same morph which i fragged into two. They are all healed, puffy, feed well etc and one is 2/3 up and the other in the bottom 1/3. Lighting is an AI sol set to around 50% at the moment and slowly ramping that up atm. The colour change has happend over the last couple of weeks. I'm not fussed by overal colour really just thought the change was interesting and remember reading it was light that controlled reds and oranges but can't remember which way round it went. Will see when i ramp the light up higher i guess.

Red Acan's turn orange under standard white/blue LED lights without UV or Near UV emitters.

That would make sense as its under LED's at the moment. Thanks
