My cucumber is pointing straight up against the side of the tank releasing a red cloud what should I do??? Is this the dreaded cuke nuke or should I give it some time to see what may be going on???

Red cloud like watery mixture that spreads, or red goo & noodles out its "hindquarters"?

If its a thin liquid that clouded kind of like the Alk part of B-ionic (or your favorite 2 part), I'd do a water change and get it out.

At this point, it will most likely die slowly over a few months if it released most of its weight in toxins. Hard for them to regenerate their insides, as there isn't much to them (try dissecting one, real boring class, almost like the earthworm dissection in 5th grade).

If it in your 180 i see there, less to worry about due to volume, but still. It really depends on your cuke / toxicity. Also, if it spits it guts out, just pull the stuff out so it doesn't rot. Again, this can mean it isn't healthy and will die over a couple months.

I had a yellow cuke eviscerate and die overnite in a 29 gallon. Threw him out, added some carbon, and did 30-40%. Fortunately no big deal. I'd keep a very close eye. Good luck.

was thin and watery did it 3 times now its sitting on a rock (seams strange since its always on the sand bed)

Watch it carefully; you may not know it's dead until it starts rotting.

I wouldn't worry too much. If you don't have any carbon in your system, add some, or add new just in case. I think you'll be fine. It's in 180? That should dilute enough that fresh carbon will be of help.

Keep an eye. Pull it out if he's dead. Change a bit of water.

Interested in this as well.

I have a sea apple and have had it for about 3 yrs. I worry that he will go south and the same thing will happen. I am afraid to try to even get him out as he is so attached to the rocks.

What is the skimmer doing, at this time?

Paracucumaria or Pseudocolochirus? watch the pseudos! We did toxicity studies on pseudos for a reef biology class. Pretty nasty. Their eggs are killers too.

I'd imagine if you tried to pull it out, it wouldn't be happy about that. You'd have to grab it on the move. But if you've had it 3 years with no problems... ?! Don't you love the unknown in this hobby?!
