Quick question for you guys/gals

Trying again
I'm going to setup a 3g picotope by JBJ for a zoa garden. Do you guys think the 9w of PC light will be enough for some of the brighter zoa's like PPE, Tubs Blues, safecrackers... things like that???

Thanks,

-Brian

i have used that wattage in the past also. should be fine . keep them close and replace bulb to keep the waves from shifting ( every 8-12 months). the bulbs are fairly cheap. in anycase they support zoa's and other stuff like mushrooms or star polyps. stuff you listed sounds fine. just use good judgment and stick with the stuff that doesnt need intense lighting.:D

my 12g is for LPS/ softies... and I want just a zoa garden so i figure this would be neat so i'm gonna give it a try.

no fish! get a few small hermits and a snail or two. i would only get a pepermint and let him do the scavenging but either will work. i wouldnt get a fish as feeding it would be a possible issue spiking 'trates.

Thats exactly what I was wondering. If anything i was thinking a small watchman goby, but was worried about feeding also.

If I get like 2 hermits, and a snail.... what one creature would you also add that would look neat?? Like a peppermint shrimp.. sexy shrimp... an pom pom crab???

the crabs/shrimp can be ok as long as they can find food on thier own. also consider anyone of them irritation your corals. My oppinion: in a coral intended nano the focus should be on the corals. if you want a nano invert tank then u can add a lot of creatures. i would stick with as littl;e as possible. a pepermint and a few crabs and snails will ensure keeping stock no where near limit which will promote stability and success for your corals.!!

Well it wouldn't be an invert tank IMO. It would be a small cleaning crew and just one focal invert that people who don't know what coral is would like to see I guess?? lol Idk... was just my thinking.

ohh no worries just saying you should keep it simple. one focal invert cool. just keep consider bioload at all times. small clean up crew and a focal invert sounds good....keep it simple. good luck
