Long story short Ive got a quiet one 3000 return pump and with work being slow buying a new one isnt in the picture so heres my question.....

Ive got it ball valved back more then half way and the plumbing is 3/4 and im redoing the plumbing right now and was wondering if upping it to 1" (like i should of done the first time)allow me to open the BV more or is it going to give me the same problem with having to much flow throw the sump.I do have it tee'd off the run my reactors and refugium section and this will stay the same(3/4).Im only changing the return plumbing behind the tank.

Also will 1" help bring the water line up just a little more, maybe 1/4"?
My head hurts from reading plumbing threads, lol.
thanks guys

depending on the rating of that pump, upping the size to 1" could increase the flow. As far as raising the level of the water in the tank you would want to do that with the overflow.

thanks,Anymore flow throw the sump will cause bubbles so i guess it really will just make it worse by going to 1".I guess what i need to do is plumb with the plans that im getting a smaller pump later, right?

I think i need to chill a little way to much research and way to much info at once.

the more i think about it its all a bandaid to me having a pump to big for my system.

so say next month i buy a pump with around 500gph would running 3/4 return,1 1/4 durso and 1" under the stand work.Water level is 2"below overflow teeth.

just wanted to know what the best way to set up my CURRENT set up with what i have and durso hight and pipe size.

depending on the length of the return lines, going to 1" could reduce water flow. The head pressure will be increased with a larger line. There are alot of calculations you would need to do to figure it out.
