quietone3000 vs mag 7

i agree with you there buz, i also have a mag 7 and thats why im wondering about the quietone 3000. along with the mag 5 there is just too much vibration sound going on, IMO.

I have a quietone 3000, its the return pump for my sump and its dead silent, don't hear it what so ever. Had it running for 3-4 mths now and its a great pump. I know some people mentioned they had probs with it re-starting once unplugged, but I haven't experienced that at all

I use a quietone 4000 for a return pump and it is extremely silent, this brand is very reliable and very cheap. Best of both worlds.

After two mag 7 burnouts, each after only about 6 months, I went with a quietone 3000. It's been running about a year now without issue and is at least as quiet if not quieter.

I've run a QO3000 as my return pump for about 2 1/2- 3 years now. Mine has its days. I turn it off every night when I feed. For the first year it had a rattle to it (even with a 2nd brand new impeller and shaft). Since then, sometimes it runs with a slight humm, sometimes it's silent.

I ran a Mag 5 for a few months. It was loud compared to the QO3000.

From all I've read, consider an Eheim. Most people report them as silent and reliable.

Dunno... I had a Quiet One 3000 pump for a while and it was by far and away the loudest pump I have ever heard. The noise was annoying even from rooms other than the one with the aquarium in it. But it sounds like others on this site haven't had the same problem so maybe I just got a bad one. I'm using a Mag 3 now and I love it, it makes a little noise but it isn't too bad.

Wow, I must've got a 'loud' Quiet one 3000, I have it running to my fuge, and I can hear that over my mag 12 return pump!!!

But me personally I would rather have something reliable then 'quiet'.... I have the same 2 mag 12's running for 4 years,, only shut off when the power goes out, and another 12 that has been going for over a year,,,

I took a chance with the 3000, and it seems good so far,, the numbers show that it's more efficient then the mag7. and cheaper..... time will tell....

My quiet one 3000 failed after 4 months. It hummed and rattled. When it was unplugged I would have to plug it in and unplug it many times to get it to work. I now have an Ocean Runner and it is quieter and so no problems.

When I set up my reef more than three years ago, I used a Mag 7 for the skimmer and a QuietOne4000 for my return-pump. Both have literally been completely silent and my reef's in a room where that's important. They both are reliable and they both start up immediately without difficulty when they're shut off for feedings, maintenance, etc. I know that other people have had different experiences with both of those pumps but I would describe them as equally good.
