Quinine sulfate?

I've read accounts of people using quinine sulfate successfully on these forums but I can't seem find any references to a published study or book or anything "official" regarding it's use.

I was initially sold on it, it seems like a great alternative to copper so I picked up some in the form of crypto pro by national fish pharm. I've used it on two QT tanks now and I've lost all three fish I used it on. Really strange stuff occured with these three fish during treatment. So I tried to do a little bit of research regarding the proper dosage, thinking maybe I did something wrong. Apparently there are three different dosage regimes that national fish pharm suggests but they don't really line up IMO. I had also heard that Noga had written about it in his one fish disease book so I asked a friend who has the book to look it up and they can't find anything regarding the use of quinine sulfate.

Maybe I'm stupid but I can't find anything besides hearsay to back up the use of quinine sulfate. Can some kind soul point me towards some literature?

It wouldn't be a big issue because I'm totally comfortable using copper but I have a few fish that may or may not be sensitive to copper so I'd like to have a reliable alternative for prophylactic treatment.

Not in noga. Quinine has a small therapeutic range. Meaning there is little room for error. Chloroquine is a much better alternative. Easy to dose - just once, no water changes, removed with carbon, and ime very effective. The only downside, it is more expensive, but might equal out to quinine since you don't do daily water changes.

I have been following along a few threads involving chloroquine and I was under the impression that it's difficult to obtain. Is this true?

Is there any notable literature citing chrolorquine? Just curious.

I still have to get, and use, some Chloroquine----as suggested by Alprazo.
I heard some great things about QS and almost tried it. It has some followers that know what they're doing. I did some asking (people that really know their stuff) and they all said basically the same thing: QS CAN work; but its very hard to keep in suspension and its impossible to test the QS level, which is vital for success. Because of this combination of factors, I haven't tried it. I'm really not going to list the fish that I think can't handle a minimum effective dose of Cupramine (.35); but its a short list.
Tank-transfer is a great way to treat any fish for ich (not velvet).
