i got a pair of r&b clowns in my tank which they have to themselves, she seems to be chasing him round the tank alot today more so than before and biting at the live rock i have in the tank.
is this normal.
some books say its all part of a courtship thing they do before they mate ,hmmmm.
looks like a bit of bullying to me.these are wild caught clowns not tank bred so i dont know if this makes any difference.
can you give me piece of mind and explain this behaviour or do i have to get in the tank and threaten them with detention.lol

Mating ritual. Female overbears the male to submission. When he starts doing the tail dance when she comes around, she will quit chasing him so much.

Also, what is a r&b clown?

zoomfish1,
r&b clown is : red and black clownfish. A.MELANOPUS.
sometimes its called a cinnamon clown.

how long have they been together? All sounds ok, if the female didnt ant the partner he would be dead by now. They should calm down in a while.

they have been together for at least 5 weeks that i know of.this was when i got them.before that not sure as these are wild caught clowns.i orderd a mating pair so that i could breed them so on that asumption who knows, these are not small clowns id say she's about 3.5 inches and he's about 2.5 inches.
hope this helps you a bit more to help me.
