radion lighting schedule

just curious how many ppl have radions out there and what your light schedule is like.

im looking for these key factors:
  • times
  • intensity
  • spectrum

thanks!

Most of the time I prefer long slow sunrises starting with 20k and go down 2k every hour and a half to two hours till I get to 12k-10k and this is where the intensity will reach it's highest for 1 to 4 hours, then evening viewing is all about how you personally like the tank to look.

Long photo periods in lower levels with lots of 400-500nm color gives great growth....

Shorter photo periods with much higher intensities with more full spectrum will give you the colors.....

....in theory of course ;)

I like to schedule in a period during prime viewing hours thats heavy on the Blue, Royal Blue, and a bit of Hyper red, with no white or green. It really makes the colors pop like crazy but don't run it all day obviously. I only use it for a couple hours in the evening.

What ever you go with, use the acclimation feature! Lets the lights gradually increase in intensity day by day. I use it anytime I mess with changing the lighting schedule or add corals I think might be sensitive.

For the last 6 months or so I have been running a split schedule that coincides with energy savings (I'm on DWP time of use rate) and my optimum viewing times:

4am-8am
8pm-12am
sunrise/sunset across 4 Radion Gen3 Pros set for a 20k color at 65% intensity.
Growth on SPS was better at 100% but my zoas were getting fried.

Not only is this the best time for me to view the tank in the morning and the evenings, but the electricity is cheapest for me during these hours and the heat from the lights isn't fighting the air conditioner in the house during the daytime. win-win-win.

Haven't changed mine in a very long time

I'm not sure what I think about the storms... Are they beneficial? Anyone has any insight or theorys on cloud cover and storms?

My fish could care less. Its more for the kids than anything else. When you need to catch a fish though. Nook is great at simulating hurricane conditions.

i still havnt set a lighting schedule to mine, but i dont have livestock yet either. that website you linked too seems neat though. nice to see alot of different schedules. i was wondering about the actual benefits of the storm and clouds as well. it sounds neat in theory to be able to hook some vortechs up and simulate a storm.
