Hello all,

Just curious about your experience with the two gobies above. I have yet to decide which to get. My parameters are below and are fairly constant. My current setup and stocking list is also at the bottom. Any and all experience welcomes. Please note i also plan to add 2 or 3 Anthias sometime.

Thanks,

Well these are a relatively small fish so I don't really forsee any territorial issues. If you're asking which one to get they're nearly identical in terms of temperament and most other aspects IME so go with which one you like more.

The only difference in them is the coloration. I to have been debating on which of the two I prefer in color. I will be doing a pair or trio of them though.

they are both great tankmates and just look a bit different . the hectors may burrow a bit more to make a home .both fun fish to watch .

I've got a trio of Hectors Goby in a 100G, and they are very territorial. It took a long time for the less dominant ones to fatten up, they really need hair algae to munch on as it makes up a substantial part of their diet, and a large sandbed to rake through.

They are great fun to watch though, and I would definitely recommend them.

Rainford's is much prettier IMO. I've had one for 6 months. Great fish. Need some filamentous algae to graze. Eats cyclopeze and prawn roe. Not so much for mysis at this point. Sifts some sand. Not too messy but you wouldn't want any LPS right by its bolt hole. Good luck.

We have two Rainfordi's in a 200G system for allmost a year now. We started with 3 but one died within a month due to territiorial issues :)
The remaining two don't live peacefuly together and eventualy the smallest one, who got beaten up all the time, became dominant. Now he is kicking the a** of the other Rainfordi and it looks like its going to die soon.

I think its a beautyfull fish with some times nasty habbits. If you want to place a group, you shud pray for a lot of luck at the first place.
