With brittle stars I get it - they're fast, but I still wonder how a slow and rather inflexible chocolate chip seastar can catch a healthy fish during daytime.

This was my first reaction. I note the op said the fish ate that morning, I assume either something was already severely wrong or that the fish got spooked and knocked itself on something, and was picked up by the starfish near the bottom corner of the tank. over a decade on the forums and I have yet to see video or a series showing the actual catch, I imagine it would be a nice slow one.
