Ranco controller (chiller) question

My old Chiller used a Medusa controller.
My new chiller came with a Ranco single stage. My question is regarding the temerature differential setting. Factory preset is for 2 degrees differential. I have the unit set for 1 degree differential with the set point at 75 degrees. According to the Controllers LED, the controller kicks the chiller on at 76 degrees and off at 75 degrees. In reality, there is a 2 degree differential. Checking with an accurate thermometer, the chiller actually kicks on at 76 degrees but kicks off at 74 degrees, a 2 degree swing.
So, my question is ... does anyone know how Ranco is actually considering this a 1 degree differential when there is definitely a 2 degree change in temp.? It would maybe make sense if they were allowing the temp to rise 1 degree above the set temp and then chill to 1 degree below the set temperature but if that were the case, the chiller would kick off at 74 degrees, not when it hits 75. But that doesn't seem to be the case as the LED readout only changes by 1 degree ... on at 76, off at 75. Anyone know?

I hope I made sense.

Im not sure of an answer for you, I don't own a chiller or ranco, but I would say that your 2* temp swing is way less than some other peoples swings. free bump

Thanks for the bump. I'm not worried about the 2 degrees. Just trying to find out how Ranco figures a 1 degree differential equates to an actual 2 degree swing.

Advertisment, when pepsi one first came out, It was 2 servings therefore 2 calories, they changed it now, but its funny.

great comparison huh :)

I believe the 2 deg temp swing is based off this... If your setpoint is 75 deg...it would kick on at 76 (+1) and off at 74 (-1). So 75 degrees +/- 1 would give you a 2 degree swing from your setpoint.
