rare and unusual Flasher wrasses

DeltecRules you have got it bad....I know the wrasses are awesome & addicting :) Actually this whole hobby is

DeltecRules,
I am always on the hunt for new rare and exciting wrasse, especially Paracheilinus (Flasher Wrasse) and Cirrhilabrus (Fairy Wrasse). Currently we have several P. filamentosus, P. cyaneus, P. mccoskeri, P. carpenteri, and P. lineopunctatus that are either on the Diver's Den® section of the LiveAquaria.com site or will be ready for sale in the next few weeks.

I am proud to say that we have in quarantine one of the rarest wrasse in the world right now. We were fortunate enough to acquire one pair, and one male Cirrhilabrus marjorie that will be ready for sale the week of May 7th-11th. These incredible fish were collected in Fiji at a depth of 80-125 feet by Tony Nahacky (who was the first to capture and have identified the beautiful Centropyge nakackyi angelfish). Tony is hands down one of the best fish collectors in the world and I was fortunate enough to have had the pleasure of diving with him for an entire week in Fiji a few years back. The Cirrhilabrus marjorie we are currently housing are 3 fish of the 24 in the world! Please keep an eye out on the site for new and exciting fish.

Happy Reefing!

I've wanted to try some wrasses out from your website, but have read that they jump out. I have a rimless tank and would not want these nice fish to jump. Am I being over cautious or is this true for all wrasses?

invincible569,

All species of Wrasse will attempt to jump out of an aquarium at some point. If you plan on housing a wrasse in your aquarium a tight fitting lid is required. You may also wish to use a screen, egg crate, or polycarbonate sheet to use as custom fit covers for rimless aquariums.

Liquidfins,

The Cirrhilabrus marjorie (Named after Bruce Carlson's wife Marjorie) are currently in quarantine and will be in this separate system for another 14 days or so. They are already settling in well to their new surroundings, eating enriched mysis shrimp.

Once these fish are moved into our main fish system and are ready for sale, I will be more than happy to take a picture of these beautiful specimens and post some of the pic in this thread. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Happy Reefing!

Egg crate is not sufficient to keep flasher wrasses in the tank.

Kevin, do you plan to sell the C. marjorie as a pair or as singles? What price do you anticipate?

Steve,

As you have pointed out, egg crate will have a little too large of an opening for most Paracheilinus spp. as they may be able to fit through the squares on the grid, so the use of fiberglass screen over the egg crate material is recommended. Egg crate by itself will normally suffice for larger Cirrhilabrus spp. and others as long as the fish are large enough and unable to fit through the squares. We should have been a little more specific, and thank you for pointing this out.

We will offer the Cirrhilabrus marjorie as one pair and one single male. The pricing will be $1199.99 for the pair, and $799.99 for the single male.

Cheers!
Kevin
