Rasta zoanthid loosing its color

So I have a tank that has been fully cycled for about 1 month now and I just put in 2 Rasta zoanthid polyps. It has been about 3 days now and one of the polyps is nice and spread. looks nice, the other however is turning black... I cant figure it out as the colors where identical when I got them.

Any ideas?

did water tests, and all checked out as within parameters, but I did a 10 gal water change just to be sure (55 gal system)

I am using 2 hydra 26 hd's. Both are set to normally run around 40% (it's a deep tank and that makes about 150-180 par at the sandbed), but I have aclimation mode on and have them reduced 50%.

Also, the tank they came from was under led at higher par.

there is nothing wrong with them , colors often change and mutate but your rastas could def use a bit more darker colors , since you've only had it for 3 days id say the frag has either been fragged recently or came from a lower nutrient environment or possibly both

give it some time and tlc and it will settle in with nice rich colors and great growth

My guess is your white spectrum is up too high. If your whites are over 30% I'd start there.

I can't see how considering that I have them turned for from 35 to 50% for aclimation mode. As I said, the par at their level is only about 160-180 when lights are running normally. And they are not yet through aclimation.

Also, wouldn't light effect both polyps?

PAR does not matter, spectrum matters. Feel free to post up when you try turning the whites lower than 30% and it fixes your issue.

You mention that your parameters are in line... I was curious if your alkalinity might be off.. That will cause color fluctuations ... Imo it is worth looking into... Also I have had Zoas right next to each other look different after placing in my tank after a few days... Only to come back to looking the same a week later..

I agree that palys and zoas tend to morph under different lighting, but I also think that both PAR and spectrum are important
