Hey so i work at a LFS shop and we just got a small cortez ray in who has a great deal of parasites on the ventral side of his body. They look remarkably similar to fish eggs, with a black dot at the tip and everything. I was wondering what are treatments etc

however I think it is too late because of its abnormal beahivor. i have seen a lot of rays in my day and this guy gets intentially stuck in rocks, sideways. so im just trying to save this little guy.

and btw he came in with the parasites like a week ago, and he is eating.

thanks
bryan

Sounds like isopods....Any chance of a picture? If he is eating that is a good sign. I am not familiar with Rays at all.....So hopefully someone that is will chime in. But a picture would be a HUGE help.

Does sound like isopods to but picture is worth a thousands words. Best bet is a freshwater dip initially but I'm not familiar with these fish but the dips often work wonders with things like this. If you try be sure that you use RO water, the Ph matches the tank it is in and the temperature is the same. Watch fish while doing this if you see any stress remove. Make sure gills actively move and once done place immediately back in it's tank. Hopefully they will all drop off if so you should see them in the container you did the dip in.
