Rays?

Currently I have a ray in my 150 predator reef. He is a small unidentified ray from with a 4.5 inch disk and 6 inches long, he also doesn't seem to show any signs of growth so I got pretty lucky.

Rays are the best pet saltwater has to offer. Mine begs for food, does flips, and asks for belly and head rubs. Not to mention their high intelligence. It is no wonder they are in touch tanks, they really like to have human interaction. Even more so in the home aquarium, mine has almost a internal self timer that knows exactly what times I will come and visit him. They also(at least mine) is very active and cruises around most of the day and sleeps in the sand at night.

As far as care they are good as long as you have nitrates under 10 and feed them 2 or 3 times a week.

ide suggest getting more experiance in the hobby before starting with sharks, rays ect. as they are usualy harder than most fish to take care off.(most need specialized care and LARGE tanks) most new people in the hobby think they are real cool then they go blow couple hundred bucks on a ray or shark that dies in 2 weeks but it also happens to experianced ray and shark keepers liek i said before they are hard to take care off check out www.sharkraycentral.com prob the best place to get this kind of advice many very very good people there with good info and more experiance with sharks and rays than i do

P.S Fishy post come pics of your ray i havent seen him yet :D

Definitely get more experience in the hobby. I bailed into it and bought a 135 stocked with a cortez ray. He did realy well for 2 months and then I came home to find him on the bottom one day last week. The heater had shorted and put all of 1 volt of electricity in the tank and it messed his senses up and he killed himself by swimming into things. They are great pets and the love attention and food just like a puppy. I wish I would have know more before I got him and I may have been able to keep him alive longer.
