Really great, but what is it?

Someone at our club was selling these about 6 weeks ago. I bought one, and it is doing well, but may be a slow grower. I've never seen anything like it:

It is purple with white or brown polyps. It is not solid purple, it looks like little multicolored strings.

It is from the Caribbean.

It appears to be photosynthetic, and reacts to light (opens/closes), and may be a high light color (did better directly under 250DE halides, fell off to a lower spot).

It does not look like the picture of Neospongodes from liveaquaria, and I know that isn't where it came from.

It appears to be pretty hardy.

One of the recent threads about not photosynthetic corals (request for low light corals) posted the similar picture, naming it Neospongoides. If it would be more elongated - then the purple lemnalia, this really likes light.
You may see more through the Image search by the name, individual pieces (or even species) vary.

From what I ever seen on the web and in LFS, only two - neospongoides and purple lemnalia have this color.

I got one of these frags. Pretty sure it is Neospongodes. Erik got it from LiveAquaria and they captive propagate it, so I think they would know what it is. Mine is doing really well also. I have it under a Tek T5 fixture, which I hope is enough. It really seems to open more in response to feeding than light, however.

On a side note, mine has an odd behavior. It is usually fully open in the morning and towards the evening. But midday it just closes up and sulks. Does yours do this?
