Recharge Chiller

What do you guys do and where do you go when your chiller needs to be recharged? Thanks in advance.

do you know what kind of refridgerant it uses....if its standard r134 you probably could get it at any automotive shop (you would have to find one that will not freak out over doing something a little out of the ordinary). The only limitations will be that the "hookup/nipple" on your chiller and you would have to find a "charge pressure" which should be in your manual.

I had a Custom Sealife chiller that used 134a and when I had to recharge it, I bought everything I needed at Walmart. It's pretty easy to DIY. On the other hand if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself or if it uses r12, you'll need to get an A/C pro to recharge it. Does it have a service label that mentions the type of refrigerant?

I dont see anything in there about pressures or charging. It looks like a self contained maintance free setup. What gives you the idea to do a charge.

it doesnt chill anymore but the compressor and fan still runs. Also there are some "nipples" that looks like they are for recharging.

hmmmmmm. You would need to find the pressure its supposed to run at to be able to charge it properly. It probably has a pretty standard fitting, but it may be one of 2 different ones. You can get manual rechargers at any autoparts store. I am leaving town tues fora trip to the beach until friday....but if you like I can try to come up with something when I get back. PM me the specific model number and I will do some digging when I get back.

I've got a standard 134a gauge set. You supply the refrigerant and find out the high and low side pressures and I'll do it for you.
