KC just dropped off my stand and Canopy! It looks really nice! I would definitely recommend him. Awesome wood work, made it exactly how we wanted. Extremely strong and he definitely has the BEST price anywhere. Oh yeh, he's a very nice guy too. Everything was completed within a week.

Cool. He is building a custom stand and canopy for me too. What are those dark lines on the canopy door edges? Is it the wood? Makes it look uneven?? I would like to see more of his custom work if anyone has pictures.

The craftsmanship looks solid. It's a good sturdy stand. Just the way I would build it.

However 60% of the labor and skill IMO is finishing. And that piece is unfinished.

I think it took my three times as long to finish my stand as it did to construct it.

If this guy is willing to do finish work I would just have him do it. Unless you like that kind of work.

He apparently used ply for the doors. Normally if you use plywood, you cover the edges. Edge banding is commonly used for this. Since he didn't cover the edges you can see the plys on all the door edges. These plys can be dark in certain areas either from blade burn or from just the random coloration that the differnent plys in plywood can have.

Fmellish, I agree which is one of my concerns as he is building mine out of birch and staining it with an ebony finish.... Most of his stands look painted.

Hey Yinger,
is that an Infinity M45 in the back?
how you like it? sorry a little off topic but i'm keeping the topic on you!

Those lines are from the saw blade when he cut the doors. He fed the material too fast, as a result the blade got hot and burned the wood as it cut.

EZ fix w/ some sand paper.

Sweet stand. What size tank? Cost?

Honestly for the price... I can't say anything. He will use whatever wood you want and also, I'm sure if i asked him to, he would finish it up as well. I don't mind the stand and canopy so much mainly because i want the focus on the tank. That's why its a simple design as well. Its for a 48x24x24 size tank. the stand is 36 inches high and canopy is 12 inches high.
