recommendations for QT

I'm baaaack! After about 5+ years I'm starting in again - and it's good to be back in the dialogue!
This time I'm doing it right by QT'ing [is that a word] everything that goes into the tank. However, I don't want to invest more effort, time and $$ in a QT than I need to. What are your recommendations for an adequate QT set up and/or links to sites that discuss them?

Thanks!

A 10 or 20G tank with a cheap filter (I have an Emperor 280), a heater and some pieces of PVC piping are all you need. You can keep the filter pad in your sump/refugium of your main tank so it will have the bacteria on it and be ready at a moment's notice. That way you can easily break down your QT and not have to keep it running all of the time. Hope that helps.

The size of the QT tank will depend on the fish of size that you will qting. If you are only going to Qt 1-4'' fish than a 20 gallon long QT would be perfect size. A simple powerfilter filled with filter floss will work for the filteration. If needed, put a heater in the tank. As you may already know, don't put sand or liverock in a QT tank. Just get some PVC pipe or fittings from a hardware store and put that in the tank to get the fish a place to hide.

Whether you use lots of pvc or something else, provide lots of hiding places and break up the line of sight within the tank. This will make your fish feel more secure. I like to use plastic plants and a plastic fake piece of driftwood.
