Recommended sand brand/size.

I have a 120 gallon sps tank. High flow. 4 mp40 and 2 mp10 pointed behind rocks to keep detritus suspended. Currently I am running bare bottom but I like the look of sand. Bare bottom is easy to clean and no sand storms but I want to go with sand.

I am looking for recommendations on grain size and what brand you like or have used in the past. I will remove the 2 mp10s when sand goes in but I am keeping the mp40s. I can always mix in a couple hand fulls of crushed coral in high flow areas.

I do know I won't use the Fiji Pink. I have used that before and way to fine. I will add sand sifter to my cuc after a few months of adding sand. Like Nassarius snails and sand sifting star and maybe some others sand sifter to keep sand stirred. Sand bed will be 1-1.5 inches deep.

Since you run lots of flow in your tank. Probably best bet to run crush coral. Unless you cut back and run only 2 mp40 an cut the flow down to avoid sandstorm.

I have reef flakes and although it looks great and more or less stays put, it still gets blown around some. I have 3 mp40s running between 75-90% in my tank 52x26x19. I was thinking of getting the grand select to put in the higher flow areas. Tagging along.....

Yeah I figured I would put some crushed coral over high flow areas. When I had sand a couple years ago I mixed crushed coral with the Fiji pink in higher flow areas and it worked pretty good but the pink blew around really easy.

I might just use a large grain sand and mixed CC in all over and see how that works. Unless someone has any other suggestions.
