Red Ball Sponges

Hi all, I recently lucked out and got some red ball sponges for free. This is my first experience with sponges, and I know they can be pretty tricky. I was wondering if there are any potential predators (crabs, shrimp, fish, etc.) that are common in a reef tank. I have a 150g tank with only a melanarus wrasse and a perc clownfish (lost the other one a while back) and some corals. I am looking to add more to the cleanup crew soon and then fish in the future. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I only tried a few over the years.

Failure in less than a month.

Guessing they may have been let out in air but I have no idea honestly.

No future desire to bother with red tree, red ball or yellow ball.

Still hoping to find a source for Aquacultured Reefgen canary yellow sponge.

Currently successful with blue plating sponge, some random cryptic sponges, and not dead yet red plating sponge.

The blue plating sponge is bulletproof. I have it in medium to low light and not much flow.
Have heard of other people doing in higher light and higher flow.

The red plating sponge seems to be a bit more touchy.

In the same time frame the blue has added inches of growth and the red has turned a little pale and not quite died yet.
