Hello all. Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I am recovery well from surgery.

On to important things, my tank. I have what appears to be red bubble algae growing. It is maroon with orange spots. I am thinking i do not want a lot of this in my tank. It is now all located on one rock, but there are some polyps on the rock as well that i would like to not kill if I can help it. Any ideas?

There is no such thing as "I am thinking i do not want a lot of this in my tank." You don't want any if you have a choice. I suggest trying to get rid of it NOW. Removal would be best done out of the tank. I don't know of any sure-fire way to guarantee getting all of it but you can try.

How about doing a water change and saving the water you remove for the algae cleaning process? When you get a bucket or tub of water, remove the rock from the tank. Remove as much bubble algae as possible manually without breaking the bubbles. Get a toothbrush or other brush and scrub the rock as much as possible rinsing with the old tank water.

BTW, zoanthids (and prolly other "poyps") can stand a fresh water dip. It's always best to temp and pH match dip water whether fresh or salt.
