red bug perscription

You'll probably have to go in. It all depends on the vet. It's handy to bring a print out of Eric Borneman's article on Interceptor and Red bugs, that way you have something if they question your motives.

LOL . . . my wife is a vet and she told me a funny story from a couple weeks ago . . .
A guy comes into her clinic with his dog which has some minor ailment . . . at the end of the appointment just as my wife is getting ready to leave the exam room, the guy kind of stutters into another one of his problems . . .
"Doc, I've got a reef tank at home and I've got . . ."
Even before he could finish the question, my wife interrupts, " . . . Red Bugs? Need some Interceptor?"

He couldn't believe it would be as easy as it was . . . Guess it helps to have a Vet who's husband is a reefer (and requested Interceptor himself to boot) . . .

My wife told me she is required to make up labels for all Rx's . . . Her Red Bug Label is as such . . .
Patient Name: Reef Tank
Use for: Red Bugs
Dosage: Owner responsible for correct dosage

I guess the guy has a small stack of information all ready to defend his odd request.

On a similar note, I noticed in the conference log for the 2009 American Veterinary Medicine Association Conference (which my wife attended in February), that some zoological researchers were giving a lecture on their Interceptor/Red Bug research. Of course I couldn't convince the wife to attend. From the lecture description, it didn't sound like they had been going at the research for too long, but it was nice to know its not just reefers interested in Red Bugs.
