Haven't yet - the tank has been up for about 60 days. We're definitely going to have to remove some of it because what you're not seeing in that picture are the other 3 clumps of the same stuff. Really really pretty though!
could it be a form of gelidium sp.? a type of red hair algae. their forms can vary, some are nuisance algae, others not. apparently ornamental only, not useful for nutrient export or aquarium ecology though commercially for agar. likes strong light and water flow.

Thanks much for the input - gives me some direction to head in. Once you start looking at red fluffy algae for an hour, it all starts to kind of look the same!
