red coral-ly grow

a few months back, i ordered some LR from the Drs. After thinking the LR wasnt so live, im starting to see what looks like tiny red coral growths. is this common? what exactly is it?

Coraline Algae Spores? Hard to tell without a pic.

You would be surprised what life exists in the rock that you cannot see. Try taking a look at night.

If you are really worried go the your LFS and purchase a small peice of good live rock. The life in that rock will populate the Dr. Rock in a matter of days-weeks.

no worries, really, just not sure if it was always there or if its something actually growing. they are about a 1/16th of an inch and very delicate. also bright red. have to get the camera out.

just searched online for "coralline algae" ....thats what it is...

It sounds like the foraminiferan Homotrema to me.
