The owner of my local LFS sold me this fish and told me it was reef safe. Boy he was totally wrong, this guy flip corals over and
killed about $600 worth of stuff not to mention it took me a week to catch this guy. Long story short, I took the sucker back to the store and the owner still argues that the fish is not picking any of the corals so therefore is reef save.

I just want to hear whats your input on this.

its a large wrasse, they will mess with stuff. LFS guy is right they are reef safe. the one you got just wanted to rearrange stuff, it happens.

Red coris wrasses will also generally kill and consume clean-up crew inverts, which by some definitions make them not "reef safe."

This wrasse grows to a potental 14" and primarily feeds on inverts in the wild. While it won't eat coral polyps, it will disrupt your reef while on the prowl. Some sites use the criteria of "coral eater" as the definition of reef safe or not, while others would use "reef destruction" as the definition. So its always best to check as many sources as possible before a purchase.
