red crab ID

I tried to get a picture of him but every time I get close he hides under his rock. he looks to have a smooth shell which is a burgandy red. his legs are red with white at all the joints. if I can get a good pic I will post it. It came with TBS LR and LS

al have stared to get these brown spots on the glass someone said it was diatom bloom. is that right and what is it and what do I need to do about it?

I think he is saying that the Astrea snails would cleen it. I am not sure what it is though sorry!

I thought is was a porcelian crab to at fisrt but it look just like the one in the thread someone posted above of a stone crab

Looks like a type of gorilla crab to me. I would get him out of the tank. I think I read an article here a couple months back that suggested there is only about 2 types of crabs that are reef safe and the rest are bad.

im 100% certain its a stone crab. Remove it asap.

well I cought him tonight. wish I had a sump or somewhere else to put him. he is cool looking, but I know I can't keep him. think the LFS will give me anything for him?

I doubt it. Most will not even take hitch hikers especially crabs since they have a bad reputation for destroying things.

You could always boil him:lol: and dip him in some butter!:smokin:
