Looking to add some red color to my display refugium. I was thinking of Red Gracilaria macro algae. Does Red Gracilaria go asexual if I run my light cycle reverse to the main tank lighting cycle? How well does it take up PO4 and NO3?
Red Gracillaria can grow really well if the conditions are right, and take up nutrients fairly quickly. It doesnt go sexual in the sense like caulerpa does. I have had events in which the gracillaria starts popping up in random places. However nothing that would pollute a tank.
