That will be there for a while...I have just received the opportunity to get a 13" one with a CLOSED mouth for $350 from a LFS owner/friend...

Best of luck to the person who buys this one...it looks a little stressed...plus I would never pay $700 for an anemone...

Is it the rarity or the size that makes it so pricy? I have a friend that's bringing in a few for a fraction of this price and I may have the opportunity to grab one.

I'd say first for the price is the rarity. Just a typical red runs about half the price of the LA one. However, its size is an extremely mature and just.. large honkin anemone that I guess they deemed it worth double since it truly is showpiece size.

To each his own. If I had a spare $800 I'd um, feed it to my credit card bills before buying.. Well the tank I upgrade in the future will cost that so, eh to each his own

Well, only speaking from having a nice red one myself but....

I paid 450.00 for mine and its about 13-15", and after having it for a few months i would have definitely paid double. No matter the price, its well worth it as long as its healthy. BTW, LA had one for 799.00 about a month ago and it lasted 2 days. So, it wont take an idiot, just the right interested buyer to see that its there. It will sell soon.

Don't buy it, i don't want anyone having as nice of a red carpet as me. LOL
